Almost every Grameenphone user in Bangladesh knows the feeling: your phone buzzes with a GP promotional SMS in Bangla or English, several times a week, often at the worst possible moment. Method 1: Turn Off Promotional SMS Using the USSD Dialer
This method works on any basic keypad phone, any Android handset, and any iPhone. The whole thing takes about thirty seconds.
- Open the Phone or Dialer app on your mobile phone.
- Type *121*1101# exactly as written. Do not add a space anywhere in the code.
- Press the green call button to send the request to Grameenphone.
- A confirmation message appears on your screen within a few seconds, stating that your DND request has been received.
- Wait for the service to go live. Activation can take up to 3 days, and promotional messages already queued before your request may still arrive during that period.
- After a few days, dial *121*1103# to confirm that DND is now shown as active on your SIM.
Method 2: Turn It Off Using the MyGP App
If you already use Grameenphone’s official app, MyGP, you can manage DND from inside the app instead of dialling USSD codes. This is useful if you would rather not type star codes by hand.
- Open the MyGP app and sign in with your Grameenphone mobile number.
- Tap Services in the main menu.
- Scroll down and tap DND (Do Not Disturb).
- Set the DND toggle or switch to On.
- Tap Confirm or Submit to send the request to Grameenphone.

What This DND Setting Actually Blocks
There is a lot of confusion around DND, so it is worth being precise about what GP’s DND does and, just as importantly, what it does not do.
- It blocks promotional SMS sent by Grameenphone itself, such as data pack alerts, new offer announcements, and recharge campaign messages.
- It blocks promotional voice calls, both from telemarketers and from Grameenphone’s own marketing department.
- It does not block service messages. Balance updates, data usage alerts, OTP and verification SMS, and bank or government alerts will still arrive normally.
- It does not block calls or SMS from your contacts, friends, or family.
- It is a Grameenphone-only setting. Your other SIMs, whether Robi, Banglalink, Teletalk, or Airtel, are not affected in any way. Each operator runs its own DND process under the BTRC’s framework, and you have to register separately with each one.
- It is completely free. There is no activation charge, no subscription, and no monthly fee to keep DND switched on.
- It can take up to 3 days to become fully effective after you submit your request.
How to Turn Promotional Messages Back On
If you later start missing Grameenphone’s offers, such as data pack discounts, recharge cashback campaigns, or network upgrade notices, you can switch DND off again just as easily as you turned it on.
- Dial *121*1102# from your phone and press the call button.
- Alternatively, open MyGP, go to Services, then DND, and set the switch to Off.
- Confirm the change on screen. As with activation, the change can take up to 3 days to take full effect.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does turning on DND cost anything?
